Stephanie Mulholland, speech-language pathologist

Meet Stephanie

Care that makes room for the whole child.

Stephanie Mulholland, M.S., CCC-SLP is a pediatric speech-language pathologist and feeding therapist, and the owner of Bite-Sized Beginnings Speech Therapy. She is the sole clinician in the practice, which allows her to provide highly personalized, thoughtful care to every child and family she works with.

Stephanie founded Bite-Sized Beginnings in August 2023 with a clear purpose: to step away from fast-paced, productivity-driven therapy models and create a practice that prioritizes relationships, regulation, and meaningful progress. Her work is rooted in neuroaffirming care and respects each child's unique way of communicating and experiencing the world.

She specializes in supporting children with developmental delays and brain-based differences that impact communication and feeding, including autism, ADHD, gestalt language processing, demand avoidance, and swallowing differences (dysphagia). Stephanie has completed advanced training in Gestalt Language Processing through Meaningful Speech and is a trained DIR®/Floortime™ provider.

Beyond the therapy room

Building practical support around families.

Stephanie is committed to child-led, family-centered therapy. She believes children make the most meaningful progress when they feel safe, respected, and understood. Her approach focuses on honoring each child's individual profile, building strong relationships, and empowering families along the way.

She is also an adjunct faculty member at Saint Xavier University, where she supervises graduate clinicians in their clinical practicums.

Professional leadership

Advocacy that connects policy to access.

Stephanie currently serves on the Illinois Speech-Language-Hearing Association's Billing & Reimbursement Committee and Legal & Regulatory Affairs Committee.

Her current advocacy work focuses on helping the speech-language pathology profession navigate reimbursement and policy changes that affect access to care. Through her ISHA committee work, she contributes to payer outreach, clinician education, and practical resources related to proposed SLP treatment-code changes.

Why this matters

Clear information helps clinicians, families, and care teams understand what is changing, what questions to ask, and how to stay connected to accurate updates.

Advocacy information is shared for educational purposes and may change as policy discussions develop.
