Communication access
AAC support that centers autonomy and access.
Communication can include speech, signs, gestures, pictures, devices, writing, body language, and more. AAC support helps build access and confidence without asking a child to earn a voice.
Support may include
- Exploring communication needs and preferences
- Partner strategies for home, school, and community
- Modeling and meaningful opportunities to communicate
- Device or system collaboration with the existing team
- Respectful support for regulation and refusal
