Premera timed speech treatment notice

October 1 · Washington provider notice · effective January 1, 2027. Premera describes the 92507 replacement family and directs providers to document direct care, avoid double-counting time and use combined speech/language coding when appropriate. This is a comparison example, not Illinois adoption authority. The notice contains an outdated statement about AMA code release; current ASHA guidance takes precedence for code numbers. Premera notice.

Head Start proposed standards

October 2 · national · proposed. ASHA warns that the proposed rewrite could alter screening processes, multilingual communication supports, staffing ratios and disability access. These are potential effects of a proposal, not implemented rules. The federal comment deadline was October 6. ASHA analysis · Federal proposal.

AAC access advocacy result

October 1 · Pennsylvania only. ASHA reports that Jefferson Health Plans reversed a policy requiring six months of unsuccessful speech therapy and lack of benefit from alternatives before considering a medically necessary speech-generating device. This is an advocacy example; it does not change Illinois coverage. ASHA report.
